Designed equipment for the the forest and wood products industry.

Tested electric and hydraulic winches, hoists, and related accessories per defined test procedures and standards, including military testing standards. Disassembled and inspected test samples for report and analysis. Defined the standard test report format and test procedures. Maintained and improved test processes and lab equipment, including updating the testing platforms from analog gauges to digital outputs with data acquisition. Designed and built some of the lab equipment. Worked as a team with Quality and Design Engineers to define root cause for failure analysis. Participated in product design brainstorming. Used Solidworks and EPDM to model parts and make product design changes. Provided support and troubleshooting for customer service and manufacturing. Worked directly with marketing, customer service, quality, manufacturing, and outside vendors.

Designed, prototyped, and tested “Technology Furniture”. Testing included the use of calculations, spreadsheets, and FEA to virtually test; along with physical testing to related standards. Combined testing and design for continuing improvement on current products, to solve quality and customer service issues, and find solutions to prototypes that failed testing. Worked directly with fabrication and production to solve build and quality issues. Maintained the Design for Manufacturing Database. Put together specification documents for marketing and sales. Worked with other engineers with welding and hardware issues. Worked directly with sales, customer service, quality, and outside vendors.

Sole Engineer and CAD draftsman for the company. Designed, engineered, prototyped, tested when needed, and at times even helped fabricate the frame and mechanics in large scale animated puppets for the likes of Disney, Universal Studios, Wynn, Cirque du Soleil, etc. Worked with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic controls. Troubleshot and solved material and mechanical failures. Put together engineering documentation packets for clients. Worked directly with outside vendors, licensed structural engineers, and with the client’s project managers and technical directors.

Worked in a prototype and design lab. Designed and fabricated prototype airsoles to work within given shoe designs, project manager for “Point-of-Purchase” units, and the designer on one of the “New Technology” teams. Designed RF tooling for CNC machining. Setup and ran tests, maintained and setup test equipment, and designed some additional equipment for testing. Compiled tooling design specifications and test criteria. Worked closely with designers, the machine shop, production, and outside vendors.
