About Brent Packer

I've been fortunate to be able to work on some of Utah's most crucial policy issues. In 2020, I was part of a nationally recognized team for our impact to Utah's criminal justice system. In 2021, I made recommendations that helped align state and local health departments during the pandemic. My current project is to establish the Division of Government Excellence at the Office of the Legislative Auditor General. The division focuses on leveraging the office's nearly 50 years of experience auditing to produce insights and foresights to mitigate risk. In 2023, the division published The Best Practices Handbook and The Best Practice Toolbox, which was made part of the Utah's accountable budget process for all state agencies through legislation passed in 2024.
