My role for this position is to supervise the production floor of both the folding carton division and label division. Ensuring smooth workflows that include: Label division – correct stock usage, quality control, run times and reducing waste. Folding carton division - Correct CAD layout, style, stock selection and die cut setup (nicking & breaker knifes placement). In addition to sourcing outside services that have included setting up a waste removal recycling plan, board stock vendors and other consumable goods. Also, I manage the operation of a Bobst folder gluing machine running many styles of cartons including: STE, RTE, Open ended sleeve, TTAB and custom styles boxes with built in compartments using both glue guns and wheels. Between projects I market to new prospects to help grow the business and meet company goals.

For this position I assist in working with the production operations to ensure smooth workflows including correct pre-press CAD layout, styles, board selection, along with helping set up the folder gluer machine and choosing the correct type of cold glue and hot glue. Other areas I worked with was die cutting to help decrease set up times and increase run speeds by changing products and styles used including die cut setup (nicking & breaker knifes placement) and setting up full automated stripping inline which created smoother transition between die cutting and gluing. I also gave input to sourcing outside services and materials such as paper/board, die manufacturing and corrugated. Other duties of day my involved contacting both cold and warm contacts to help fill the pipeline of workflow.

A partner and I bought all assets of Color Media & R. Emmett Packaging. My day to day duties as a manager remained the same as with the time running R. Emmett Packaging/Color Media which includes but never limited to, Director of Operations including managing all aspects of the business of 35 employees. Duties started with estimating projects for wide range of clients including brokers and direct companies that consume packaging. Once we received PO’s, I processed them in the software, PrintSmith, which the partner and I put into place when starting the new venture. This includes choosing vendors and ordering all materials needed: plates, chemistry, ink, board, die, specialty glue if required as such in the medical box projects, corrugated and products needed for shipping: pallets, stretch wrap and tape. Everyday I did a schedule for each department creating job tickets for each department (prepress, plating, press, die cutting & gluing) and a list of each project that needed to ship by working with our CSR’s and sales team. During operation hours I managed each department and all employees insuring quality of work was at the highest standard, solving problems including preventive maintenance on a large format sheet fed KBA press, large format flat bed die cutter and several straight line folder gluers to prevent down time and lost production time. At the end of each day I did close outs and audit of each project completed which helped me improve times and better estimate future projects, doing this helped to know at any time while on the floor to see if we were making or losing on a project. I also did inventory management of all products/supplies (paper/board, corrugated boxes, ink, chemistry along with office supplies and cleaning products) and client products kept on our floor for “Just In Time” shipping.

As the General manager for these companies my position required me to control every job from inception to completion, which included working with several people, answering all questions, and solve any issues to insure that every job got done on time and correctly. Also in this position, I had to do all the purchasing and inventory control for supplies that were needed in all aspects of the business. As the production manager I had to hire, manage and terminate all staff to protect and ensure growth for the companies. My sales role required me to service and maintain current clients while scouting for new prospects to help grow the business and meet monthly goals.
