While at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, I had the chance to explore my passion for animation, as well as my interests in the field of psychology.I have always seen myself as having strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to see things from different points of views. This is what drew me to psychology, as I was interested in learning more about the way we perceive our world, how what we see has an impact on us during our daily lives, and how the human race responds to different stimuli on the whole. I have taken courses that explored different factors of social psychology, attention and memory, and developmental psychology. After graduation, I accepted a job at the Chicopee Public Library. While I originally started as a Circulation Associate, in less than a year I was offered the position of Senior Library Associate Youth Services. Using my passion for Japanese popular culture, I have helped expand the library’s collection of comics and manga, which is currently the section of the YA collection with the most circulations. I have also provided input on additional anime titles for the media collection and have overseen the anime club. During my time at the library, I have also assisted in running the summer reading program which has seen over 1,200 children and 100 teens for the past couple years.During the summer of 2011, I participated in a study at Bose Corporation in which I participated in user research of the then prototype product and the now released SoundLink Mini. I provided critical feedback on the functionality as well as the design of the product during my time in the study. It was a very interesting experience, and something that I enjoyed doing very much as it allowed me to use my problem-solving skills as well as forward thinking to anticipate how the end user might interact with this product.

Senior Library Associate Youth ServicesChicopee Public Library Sep 2016 - PresentChicopee, MaMy position's primary role is to provide service to our middle and high school population that visit the library. During the after school hours, I supervise the Teen Space where I make sure that library rules are being followed, but am also there to assist with any homework or library related questions, as well as provide them with one of our many board game titles. Regular events such as our Anime Club or Teen Gaming are planned and run by myself, while for special programs I will coordinate with various performers across the state to run events in a range of topics. During the summer when school is not in session, I am the primary point of contact for the summer reading program for the twelve to eighteen age group. I assist in the design of the summer reading program at the library, decide on prizes for the teen program, and am in charge of scheduling events for teens over the summer. Year round, I am in charge of creating flyers and social media posts to promote not only teen programs, but also books displays or relevant changes at the library. When I am not in the Teen Space after school, I work out of the library's Children's Room. While there, I assist in the daily functions of the room and assist patrons with any questions they may have. I have also been in charge of helping expand the comics and manga collection, which is currently the section of our YA collection with the highest circulation. -
Circulation AssistantChicopee Public Library Oct 2015 - Sep 2016Chicopee, MaAs a Circulation Assistant I was a primary point of contact for patrons looking for information about the library. I helped answer their questions about policies, as well as current and upcoming events at the library. I also assisted patrons in locating items on our shelves. If we do not currently have a particular item, I can search the Evergreen catalog and order the item from another library that owns it. Patrons may also call the library with questions, to renew items, or to place an item on hold. While not assisting patrons, I helped sort incoming delivery, consisting of patron holds and items returned from other libraries. Patrons who have holds are then notified by an automated email and text system, or set aside to be manually called. When time permits, another duty of mine was to maintain a section of the library's shelves. I made sure the items in my area were in proper Dewey Decimal and alphabetical order, and anything out of place was checked-in to make sure it was not in missing status and then returned to its proper shelving location.
