CurrentCheck in patients to exam rooms, obtain weights, temperatures, pulse and respiration ratesReview patient history and prepares any items necessary for veterinarianOffers any assistance the veterinarian may need as well as collect all needed samples for specific testsAdministration of vaccinationsProvide clients with education and all needed information of the diseases diagnosed by the veterinarian Provide restraint of pets for exam and treatment by vetAssist in medical treatment such as administering medications & injections, cleaning wounds, bandaging, etc.Treat all hospitalized patients under the supervision of veterinarian; assist in medical and surgical procedures performed by veterinarianAssist in surgery, following the standards of care for surgical patientsAdminister anesthetics under the supervision of the vet; intubations of surgical patients under supervision of the vetPrepare patients for surgeryUnderstand, follow and recommend all of our hospital protocols.Communicate with other staff and clients regarding patient’s status as instructed by doctor, or as neededPerform all in house laboratory procedures and prepare samples for shipment to outside laboratory. Record lab work in patient’s records, print necessary requisition forms and assure maintenance of all in house lab equipment is up-to-datePrepare medications for both outpatients and inpatientsPerform all radiographic procedures including measurements and recording of measurementsCleaning cages in the treatment and kennel area after departure of patients to ensure cages available for incoming patients Prepare the hospital for day-to-day business by assuring drawers and shelves are kept stocked.Give each pet that is hospitalized, a surgical patient, a drop-off, a schedule appointment or walk-in and all grooming patients the love, care and respect that would be offered to a personal pet
