I formed and led the Commerce organization as a tech-forward, discovery-driven product and engineering team owning Braintree's enterprise merchant and partner integration interfaces. As engineering lead, I helped product and technical leaders set the vision and mission of our teams, ensured teams were well staffed with great managers and engineers, and provided space for creative and driven team members to innovate. We had a huge impact on Braintree and PayPal's business: launched a modern GraphQL API service; heavily optimized our documentation usability via data analysis and experimentation; launched partner extensibility capabilities to enable new fraud prevention, loyalty, and payments use cases; extended our set of payment methods to include new wallets and local/alternative payment methods; released optimized major versions of our web and native mobile checkout SDKs; incubated and initiated a major new initiative in enterprise omnichannel.

Managed and led the Developer Experience group, then the broader Merchant Experience organization (approx 75 team members). Responsible for product development in onboarding, risk, funding, disputes, control panel, SDKs, APIs, docs, and marketplaces. Coached and developed ICs and managers; evolved organization to match business, team, and individual priorities; developed and documented career path; led processes for talent acquisition; hired and retained key talent.

I joined a small team and helped develop and launch Braintree's merchant developer platform for accepting payments of all types in native apps and on the web. Collaborating closely with product, business development, and colleagues, I prototyped the first version of PayPal's One Touch experience and demoed to leadership. Lots of pairing and TDD.

Architected, designed, and developed PayPal’s mobile payments developer products. Designed, modernized, and reconceptualized PayPal developer documentation.

Acquired by PayPal.First hire. Built libraries for mobile credit card scanning and payments. Designed and implemented native libs, web frontend, and backend for management, analytics, and administration. Developed test-driven, continuously integrated orchestration layer to perform card processing across multiple gateways. Wrote cross-platform code to efficiently de-skew card images via GPU shaders. Library open sourced and still (!) in use by top mobile apps.

Founding engineering lead of a tangible interface hardware startup. Hired and mentored engineers. Led and developed brand, UX, dev platform, online store, in-app game store, and app runtime. Sifteo was acquired by 3D Robotics in 2014.
