Brent Gilbert is a corporate director with an active directorship in Property & Casualty Insurance. During his former career as an insurance brokerage executive, he specialized in organizational management, focusing on efficiency, productivity and professional standards. He has lectured in Canada on best practices for insurance brokerages, and is a former director of the Centre for the Study of Insurance Operations. He is a past-president of the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada; a past-president of the Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba; and a past-chair of the General Insurance Council of Manitoba. After retiring, Brent turned his attention to corporate directorships which gave him the opportunity to transfer his skills and experience to corporate boards. He recently completed a term on the Board of Southport Aerospace Centre Inc. (Board Chair) and is currently a director on the Board of The Portage la Prairie Mutual Insurance Company (Board Chair). After completing the academic requirements for the Directors Education Program, Brent obtained the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors in September of 2015. Brent also provides governance consulting and insurance litigation expert witness services.
