    Brent has been with Arup since 2008. Since joining Arup, Brent has been employed in the Civil team working with design programs such as AutoCAD, Autotrack, 12d and Bentley MX, as well as organisation the CAD team’s training and development. Brent has advanced skills in AutoCAD and has comprehensive knowledge of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads standards (QDMR) as well as many other appropriate client and Australian Standards.     As the Commander of an infantry section he was in charge of the running of 9 section members, including their security, training, welfare and many other aspects. Brent surpassed expectations in this role, drawing from many years of experience and three operation deployments to Tmior-Leste and the Solomon Islands. In 2008, Brent was awarded the soldiers Medallion for Exemplary Service for his crucial role training the company members of Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, that subsequently deployed to Afghanistan. In 2009 Brent transferred to the Australian Army Reserves, to support his transition to civilian employment.

    For 6 Months Brent was employed as the Manager of the Cohort Training Program for the Australian Army Reserve. The CTP was an accelerated Army training course that developed up to 50 soldiers from civilians, to fully qualified Infantry Soldiers to an active service deployable level, in a very short 5 months. Brent Coordinated the trainers, timetables, lessons and daily program, managed and booked all required equipment and resources including, food, accommodation, materials, transportation and external specialists. He managed welfare of trainers, students and support staff. Reported progress to Commanding Officer and held periodical progress meetings as required. In 2011 Brent was awarded the Soldiers Medallion for Exemplary Service for his exceptional work as the CTP Course Manager.

    Brent was employed as the Operation Corporal for the 25th/49th Battalion Royal Queensland Regiment. He was responsible for booking all the resources for Unit's activities and coordinated and organised use of unit facilities.In January 2011 Brent deployed as Platoon Sergeant for Operation QLD Flood Assist. He maintained roll books and coordinated Army Reserve personnel movement to and from flood locations. Brent managed approx 30 soldiers during all clean up and assistance tasks, liaised and worked with various emergency services and civilian organisations. He ensured the safety and health of staff, workers and local civilians. Brent also engaged with community and media to ensure positive and required outcome was always achieved.

    Brent deployed to Timor Leste in March 2007 with Timor Leste Task Group 2 for a period of seven months. As a section 2IC, he was second in command of an Infantry section of 9 soldiers. During the deployment he was involved in multiple tasks including but not limited to:- Local patrolling both on foot and vehicle mounted.- Building searching and detention of suspected criminals.- Training of local military forces- Providing security for multiple local and military assets.- Providing emergency medical treatment for members of the unit. - Training and administering the section- Collection of intelligence personnel and places of interest. Brent excelled in his role as 2IC and often was required to take lead of the section for a number of reasons. His organised and methodical approach to the section's admin and training was pivotal in its success. He was respected by his subordinates, his peers and his superiors for his mature and consistent leadership skills.

    In 2003 Brent was deployed to East Timor as a section scout as a part of Australian Battle Group 8 and the United Nations Mission of Support in East Timor (UNMISET)Following deployment Brent was employed as a member of the Direct Fire Support Weapons Platoon for many years. He fulfilled the following duties:- Heavy Weapon Specialisation- Combat First Aider.- Platoon Driver- Platoon Signallerin 2006 Brent was deployed to the Solomon Islands as the section's Number 1 Rifleman as a part of the Quick Reaction force that responded to the riots and Australian Federal Police assistance.
