Technical Architect for NT Department of Education during a major project with a fixed deadline as the existing data centre was scheduled for demolition. Design, manage and troubleshoot the migration and relocation of services, infrastructure and hardware to the new Data Centre. Identify risks, dependencies and potential relocation issues to minimise service outages and end user impact. Develop migration design, procedures, risk mitigation, verification plans and rollback. Schedule system outages and migrations sprints within the ITIL change management framework.

• Review designs by collaborating with project managers to ensure implementation and solution risks are correctly identified. Consult with external agencies to align proposed project briefs for compliance, enabling quality outcomes within constraints of budget and technology• Consult with stakeholders and operation leaders to understand actual business and strategy requirements, utilise broad skillset to collate business, application, security, technology and governance prerequisites. Using this information and analysing existing infrastructure design, then provide recommendations to drive the best outcome• Ensure Design documentation updates were captured during the Change process• Review and sign off on completed Body of Works (mini projects) and Projects• Assist with technical issues and provide recommendations to the Department and within the teams, across all areas from Service Desk to Engineering and Projects• Attend Project and Service Delivery meetings with Department of Education, providing updates and technical assistance or recommendations

Responsibilities include:• Perform daily backup checks, data restores, failure rectification, cyclic verification and reporting• Monitoring and resolving server/LAN issues within the Northern Territory Department of EducationICT environment to meet Service Levels• Actively involved with the issues and maintenance of the SAN and tape libraries it the Data Centre• Provide bi-annual capacity planning reports and recommendations • Maintain high levels of system availability, capacity, data integrity, reliability, security and performance• Perform core firmware and driver updates on all servers in the Data Centre including the SAN Array, SAN Switches and tape drives/ library’s• Perform daily checks to ensure DFS-Replication is working between all branch servers, across the NT, and the backup partner servers in the Data Centre

Duties included:• Dealing with a wide range of clients in the corporate, retail and educational sectors across the UK• Repairing and maintaining laptops, desktops, servers, printers and PDA’s• Providing support and hardware break/fix within the contractual Service Level Agreements• Commissioning Windows 2003 Forest Root, Additional and Terminal Servers• Server rebuilds/disaster recovery• Server migration onto new hardware and Operating System upgrades • Install and setup Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape backup solutions using Symantec Backup Exec • 24/7 Out of hours onsite server hardware break/fix support• Rack builds and server movesOther duties included working onsite as the lead Engineer and 3rd line support providing support to others within the team. I have also provided 3rd Line support to the onsite Engineers at 16 schools within the Lambeth borough of London.
