I am extremely thankful to those who came before me; whose shoulders I stand on. In the early 1930’s my grandfather transitioned from Farming to Machinist, working full time, raising a family & taking correspondence course he would teach himself machine trades. He became one of the most respected men in the trade. He founded his own Tool & Die shop which; grew into building injection molds & providing injection molding services, blow molding, assembly, and repair services; at the direction of my Father & his brothers. I started working at a very early age at first to spend time with my father who was always at work. (Incidentally he is still working)Over time, I went from drawing on the board to building tools, operating injection & blow molding machines along with using machine technology of the time. (My Mother had a huge positive impact on me as well in other areas; but that story is for another time, love you mom). Being a son of the owner had its perks, attending customer meetings, sales calls, and internal staff meetings; learning about the internal functions of a company, sales, P&L, balance sheets, EBITDA, net income, AR, AP, & cash flow; in my youth I thought this would be my future; I was very eager for the future. My Father would later sell our family business; at the time this didn’t fit my plan; what was I to do? I would venture out (with the foundation I was provided) into fields outside of manufacturing, the benefits of which; I could never have imagined. Attending college with a passion for finance, working for large corporations and small businesses alike; I was privy to extensive training in employee relations, sales, team building, personality types, management training programs, different company cultures, & different management styles all of which, I would have never been exposed to without the sale of the family business. In other words, 1 year of experience 30 times or 30 years of experience. As an entrepreneur, board member, business owner practicing responsible entrepreneurship, I love participating in the growth of businesses by identifying the right strategy. Building the right teams for the task at hand; evaluating key KPI’s, market trends, customer needs to achieve profitable results. When I'm not busy helping companies achieve their goals, you can find me spending time with my children, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, or just relaxing at home with a good book.
