From my childhood I have had an insatiable appetite for personal and team growth. In school it manifested itself to look beyond the lesson plan and help peers. As a boy scout it it was completing a complex eagle project. Working part time jobs while going to school it was taking on additional responsibilities. In my professional career it was all the above in addition to improving the workplace through formalized training, procedural review, documentation, and revision.As a Boy Scout I designed, sought donations, organized the construction of a ~600 sqft shed for our high schools track and field team. Under the administration of a local Architect, with the approval of the school board, and assistance of the local track and field coach.As a Student; in subjects where I picked up material quickly, I would tutor peers who might have been lagging behind, to better reinforce concepts I had picked up and help others catch up (as an informal Teachers Assistant).As a Part-Time Baker for Tim Hortons I quickly picked up the responsibilities of opening/closing, making bank deposits, and inventorying. I was promoted to supervisor which had the added responsibilities of developing a list of core shift responsibilities and leading shifts on some of our busiest shifts.Designing for Bath Iron Works, I strove to pick up challenging projects; collaborating ahead of time with Electrical Design peers, Structural Engineers, and Design for Manufacturing to anticipate hurdles, insuring first time quality on schedule under budget.As a Structural Design Mentor, I would fill in with the above responsibilities in addition to responding to quality trends by prescribing and administering training. Onboarding new employees, teaching people off the streets how to model and draft. Document requirements for our deliverable products, document step by step guidance for our procedures, and troubleshoot clunky procedures that needed to be resolved on team, or interdepartmentally.
