Owner
I've always wanted to own my own business, and in May of 2018, I decided to take the leap. I found an extremely niche market selling healing crystal jewelry online through my business "Knot n Stone." I created every aspect of Knot n Stone's marketing, from the social media work, the website, and graphic design, to the product photography and descriptions. The store is still in it's early phases, but I've learned an incredible amount about product sales and marketing. Important lessons like spending more money on marketing is correlated with higher earnings, but marketing online won't create success.
Server
Within the first month of serving at Texas Roadhouse, I was their top salesperson; not in a "I'm your best employee" sense, but literally, I was quantitatively their best server. In fact, I've been within the market top 20 for the Midwest region more weeks than not in 2018, most recently excelling to fourth best salesperson in the region.
Server
Four years at Olive Garden taught me an incredible amount about myself and my skills as a professional. It's common for restaurants to hold weekly and monthly competitions for their servers, for different aspects related to the salesperson process. I started winning these contests so frequently, that our management team created a special uniform for me, with the title "Ultimate Server." Although the idea seemed kiddish, statistically, I was their "ultimate server."
Volunteer Mentor
After being accepted by One Heart Source, I was able to live one of my (unknown at the time) lifelong dreams- exploring South Africa. I worked as part of a ten-person team to build English and math curriculums for students in a village just outside of Cape Town. I also taught these fifth graders every day, using creative teaching methods and communication skills to work with the students. The experience was absolutely incredible and not only changed my perspective of the world, but also my understanding of myself.
Producer | Web Editor
Multimedia Journalist
Throughout my early professional life, I had substantial experience working with print mediums; but not a serious amount of work with video creation. I sought out an internship with ABC-affiliate KQTV to gain a foundation in videojournalism. My time at KQTV taught me the basics of videography for a city while also forcing me to learn how to work with older, on-budget equipment. While working two days a week and occasionally on the weekends, I shot, scripted and edited three vosots each week, also producing multiple lead video packages. Overall, KQTV was a trial-by-fire learning opportunity that introduced me to the busy, mid-sized newsroom atmosphere.
Founder | Executive Director
GriffsGiveBack is a connection center between people at Missouri Western State University and opportunities for them to give back to their college community and to the greater St. Joseph region. I orchestrated the creation of the center, from the early stages where I put in nearly 100 hours of work for no pay establishing the foundations of the office, creating a website and establishing volunteer connections, to planning the program's first service event.Through the center, I have also worked with numerous outside agencies to create non-work opportunities for Griffons at MWSU to give back. I worked with Planet Aid to bring eight clothing donation bins to MWSU at various locations across campus. The kiosks are emptied weekly by Planet Aid and our contract with them is indefinite. I also worked with Human Resources at MWSU to set up an opt-in donation program for student employees at MWSU. With more than $800,000 paid out by the university and with college-aged Americans having the highest percentage of disposable income when compared to other age groups, I saw student employees as a resource for providing vital funds to local non-profits.The main word I've kept in mind in creating the center "sustainability." Because of my efforts to establish funding channels, a large pool of volunteers and a number of community service connections, the program is set to become a true Student Services office within the next five years.

Project Manager
Using the social media and branding skills I had gained from Missouri Western, I worked with a local politician, Gary Myers, who was running for a judge seat. Although Myers had a management corporation advising him, I completed the majority of the grunt work -- everything from building his website, creating and running his Facebook account to being his full-time photographer, even walking beside him at parades and other events. Branding wise, I developed the very campaign name "Elect Gary Myers," creating graphic work that pushed his accomplishments.
