- Led data science team — developed & implemented robust, lean structure for identifying & managing the exploration of new ideas, balancing long term big impact targets and short term value creation. - Ran RTI’s corporate emerging technology innovation lab, called Lab 58. - Within Lab 58, we identified, evaluated and experimented on new technologies that could either disrupt one of RTI's core lines of business or offer a significant growth opportunity. - Built a lean internal team of creative idea generators, problem solvers, coders/developers, and technologies of many stripes -- excellent at designing and conducting rapid experiments, building fantastic prototypes for external clients, and building/leveraging internal and external partners. - Generated annual revenue well above targets, surpassing expectations of RTI leadership and helping existing and new clients innovate with VR, AR, AI/ML, and blockchain. - Key external partnerships have been and will continue to be critical to our success.

- Successfully pitched original Lab 58 concept/vision to RTI executive leadership team & secured initial seed funding.- Stood up the Lab by bringing on additional staff, identifying & communicating with key internal stakeholders, and beginning to explore key activities/metrics for success.

- Provided evaluation and strategy support to R&D efforts – pre, during, and post R&D. - Designed and leveraged a combination of quick/small and rigorous/large data collection and analysis methods to develop new information to support critical decision making. - Built and managed interdisciplinary teams customized to the specific project needs – including social scientists, design experts, scientists and engineers, as needed. - Estimated supply & demand for new products, services, & policies for commercial firms, government agencies, and foundations. - Identified and quantified key barriers & incentives to adoption and provide specific recommendations -- eg, product redesign changes or marketing/education campaign strategies. - Managed large technology policy analyses for government clients and some commercial clients. - Conducted retrospective economic impact analyses of R&D programs and new technologies to identify key lessons learned and prospective economic impact analyses to support strategy development and new R&D investment decisions. Example projects for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST): - Retrospective analysis of investments made in a variety of infrastructure technologies and standards to support the semiconductor industry. - Prospective analysis of investments under consideration for NIST to develop new cybersecurity standards and frameworks.
