Director of Accounting responsible for ensuring Cost of Product and Cost of Service transactions were accounted for timely and accurately in accordance with GAAP. This includes:-Managed diverse team of 20 located in both Reston, VA and Overland Park, KS.-Reviewed vendor agreements and communicated related accounting treatment to business owners.-Advised internal operations on accounting treatment of proposed initiatives.-Worked with Finance Ops to ensure an understanding of financial statement activities to aid in the budgeting and forecasting process.-Worked with External Reporting and the external auditor's to aid in the quarterly and year-end filing process.-Certification of SOX controls.

Managed a diverse team responsible for the accounting and reconciliation of over 150 G/L accounts covering all sections of the balance sheet. Monthly review and approval of over 125+ journal entries for handset subsidies, debt, equity, and SG&A. Additional achievements include:-Worked closely with functional departments (Treasury, Tax, Legal, Engineering, IT, Marketing) to serve in support role providing accounting and process support.-Worked closely with external reporting and the external auditor's throughout the quater end and year end close periods.-Served as a SME on a company wide software conversion from Oracle G/L to PSoft 8.4.-Subsequent to Sprint acquisition of Nextel, served as a SME to help integrate 2 legacy companies ledgers/financial systems to one common ledger/financial system.

Joined Nextel Communications in 1996 as a senior accountant responsible for the accounting of handset subsidies and service revenues and reconciliation of related G/L accounts. Additional achievements include:-Core team member for transition of Accounting group from Northern California to Northern Virginia. This required learning and rotating between several job functions over the months leading up to the move allowing for job knowledge transfer to new work force.-Assigned and successfully completed a project to build a systematic process for the payment and reconciliation of National Indirect Dealer and Retailer compensation.

Lead accountant in the Oil and Gas revenue accounting group. Worked with internal field operations and external industry partners to ensure oil and gas transaction revenues and related A/R were properly recorded and collected. Accomplishments include:-Used resources of legal, production department, and outside partners, to recreate 25 years of historical data to finalize a well depletion payout project.-Initiated research project and provided data parameters to a subsidiary corporation while at the same time resolved a major division of interest problem (received corporate recognition award for this project).-Team leader in effort to reconcile natural gas revenue activity for southeastern states which resulted in the clearing of millions of $ outstanding from the A/R ledger
