Seeking a new challenge in a smaller but forward thinking firm, I joined Kannangara Thomson as a partner in April 2015 after 25+ years at Harmans Lawyers from July 1989 until leaving the firm on 31 March 2015 to take up my new role at Kannangara Thomson.I am based at 575 Wairakei Road near Sheffield Crescent. Car parks are plentiful and client's enjoy the informal atmosphere at this thriving, multi cultural law firm.I have a busy practice dealing largely in transactional work for a large private client base. Specialties: I have 35 years experience dealing with all types of private client work but with a particular interest and specialty in dealing with property investors, developers, senior law and estate planning and asset protection including, in particular, the use of family trusts and other estate planning tools. I have a particular personal interest in marketing. Following the Christchurch earthquakes, I have also had considerable experience in dealing with insurance matters and red zone property sales.I have held a number of not-for-profit positions over the years including with the White Elephant Trust, a charitable trust operating in the youth sector. I have also had previous board experience with City Harvest Food Rescue and as a trustee of Rebuild Christchurch Foundation, a charitable trust working in the area of the Christchurch rebuild and trying to help those who need assistance most. I have been privileged to work with some very committed people in these areas. I have also previously served on the Board of Trustees at St Patrick's School in Bryndwr and more recently on the West Eyreton School board which my daughter attended prior to going on to Secondary School.I served 4 years as a director of Law Alliance NZ which is a law alliance of which my company, KTLaw Limited, is part.
