Profile bio

About Bret Avery

I am a graduate of Western Carolina University's Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) program. This degree plays to my strengths in that I am able to use my hands while still working with technology. In high school, I learned more about electronic media, computer systems, and other electronic hardware, how they function, and how to apply, troubleshoot and repair technologies. After taking some courses in Computer Engineering at Wake Technical Community College, I realized that I was more into hardware and lab work than into software. So I changed my major to Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology which involves designing, implementing, and troubleshooting different electrical circuits and hardware systems involving microcontrollers and integrated circuits. Then after earning my MSSC Industrial Automation Certification and being in my IEEE robotics team, I learned about Mechatronics, Robotic and Automation systems that involve my interests and are enjoyable for me to learn about. In my technical career, I have developed my skills in troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems, working with engineers to develop system prototypes, and learning more about the use of data analytical equipment. At Cree now known as Wolfspeed, I worked on various equipment that was used in the final phases of developing LEDs and semiconductors devices. There I used my skills to investigate problems and find creative solutions to keep systems running. Then at Biomason assisted in developing small and large systems that would be used to create large biocement structures and taxiways for aircraft for Air Force Research Laboratories. Here I learned more about incorporating systems in the biological process of developing biocement and prototyping the potential automation systems when the process was ready to be commercialized.Thank you for looking at my profile and I hope you have a great day and your career is going well.
