Advocate (August 2011 - August 2014)- Bottom-line responsible for the work of Environment Arizona in the state.- Led a campaign to commit the City of Tempe to 20% clean energy by 2025, the highest renewable energy goal in the state at the time.-Worked in a coalition to win a campaign to withdraw over 1 million acres near Grand Canyon from future uranium mining.- Appeared in the Arizona Republic, Arizona Daily Star, Arizona Daily Sun, PBS, KJZZ, KTAR and other media outlets.- Lobbied on environmental legislation at the Arizona State Capitol and testified in committee hearings; lobbied Arizona’s congressional delegation in Washington D.C.- Oversaw full-time staff and a team of interns.- Ran board meetings and managed the organization’s budget.- Raised funds from donors and foundations to support Environment Arizona’s work.Fellow (August 2009 - August 2011)- Completed a two year fellowship program focused on issue advocacy and organizing.- Appeared on the front page, above the fold in the Arizona Republic for a report on power plant pollution.- Implemented national campaign tactics in Arizona focusing on climate change, clean water and renewable energy.- Developed and ran a campaign to save Arizona’s state parks from budget cuts that would have closed many parks.- Held events with sitting members of congress, including Gabby Giffords and Ed Pastor.- Canvass Director with the Fund for the Public Interest - Tempe, AZ. Campaign Director (October 2012 - November 2012)- Took a 6 week leave of absence from Environment Arizona to run an electoral project with Environment Virginia and Work for Progress during the 2012 election.- Directed a campaign office overseeing 5 full time staff and a team of around 50 canvassers. - Was bottom-line responsible for all aspects of the campaign office.- Our team knocked on over 33,000 doors in neighborhoods across Northern Virginia for independent GOTV efforts supporting Barack Obama for President and Tim Kaine for U.S. Senate; both candidates won.
