Cosgroves are one on the leading agencies in the area, they are one of only a handful of companies who have a dedicated block management team in a dedicated office. I am part of that team who administer and manage 102 residential blocks of flats in Southsea. We are responsable for a whole host of tasks from changing light bulbs to planning 10 year maintenance programs, as well as ensuring that there are sufficient funds in the various pots. My particular role involves all aspects of compliance from alarms & lights to lifts & gates. I also look after the buildings and engineering insurances for the portfolio.www.cosgroves.co.uk

Private landlords play an essential role in the provision of accommodation across Portsmouth. It is acknowledged and appreciated that many private landlords provide and maintain properties to a good standard. It is important to recognise these landlords and encourage and support others to achieve higher standard. This is the reason for developing the Portsmouth Landlord Accreditation Scheme.The scheme has been running since February 2009 to date have recruited 140 landlords and 7 managing/letting agents with upwards of 2000 properties between them, www.las.portsmouth.gov.uk

•Property Manager of several blocks of flats•Responsible for the inspection and ongoing maintenance of 300 properties•Produce 5 & 10 year maintenance plans•Project manage refurbishments•Manage maintenance budget on behalf of Landlords•Working towards National Estate Agent qualification•Work closely with contractors from many disciplines

•Managed the colleges reprographics center carrying out all aspect of printing.•Managed the large shop that sold all aspects of college stationery to students as well as keeping all teaching and administration departments stocked with the consumable requirements. These would range from tonners and inks for office/classroom printers to specialist paint brushes for the art department.•Responsible for the setting up and organization of the college’s cash collection office, where we would collect monies paid in for trips and course contribution fees. Over a 12 month period this would about to £110k.

•Manger and Administrator of two Microsoft networks consisting of 900 Internet enabled PC’s, 14 server. With 3000 users of differing abilities.•Responsible for the architecture and future developments of the networks.•Responsible for the 150k IT budget.•Team leader to a team of four technicians of varying skills.•Responsible for the investigation, tender and purchase of all IT equipment.•Working knowledge of the SDX Index telecommunications system.•Carry out all VDU equipment risk assessments

Various roles during my time sea time served on Falmouth, Invincible, Ark Royal and Lancaster. I left the service after a very satisfying 23 years in 2000 as Chief Petty Officer (Seaman Specialist)
