I am a cofounder of the creative agency Cultivate Studios where I worked as a Telly Award winning filmmaker and writer. As creative director of the video department, I developed Cultivate’s documentary approach of authentic storytelling for non-profits. In 2010, I directed a student-created audio documentary, detailing the closure of their Chicago Public School entitled "Medill Matters." In 2011, I received a diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, underwent two stem cell transplants and survived a heart attack in February of 2015. Now in remission and continuing to heal, I chronicle this ongoing journey via my blog, Hoechemo, bringing to life the often overlooked young adult cancer experience. I also blog for the Huffington Post’s young adult cancer section, "Generation Why." Over the years, I have volunteered extensively for the non-profits’ Project Focus and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I'm currently cowriting an irreverent unofficial guide to surviving transplant.
