About Bret Laverty
Bret Laverty is a Consultant at CSTC - California Safety Training Corporation. He possess expertise in test automation, quality assurance, test planning, requirements analysis, test execution and 15 more skills. He is proficient in Spanish. Colleagues describe him as "I've worked with Bret his entire time at Precor and he has been, and still is, an enourmous asset to our organization. First off, Bret is an excellent software tester. He has strong technical skills and he thoroughly owns his feature areas. His largest contribution, in the role of a tester, has been in straightening out our media entertainment features. Our first version of these features were provided by an out-sourcing partner and the quality of these applications was very poor. At the time, we didn't have anyone with prior experience in testing media related features so Bret volunteered himself to take on the challenge. Bret took ownership of the feature, started enumerating the exact state of the feature, tracked the open issues, worked with the out-sourcing partner (who was not easy to work with) to obtain fixes, and he started to identify the tools we needed to properly test these features (such as signal generators, audio analyzers, etc). When the time came to stop working with the out-sourcing partner and re-write the application in-house, Bret also took on a role as the unofficial PM for the project. He helped decide which features or bugs to take on when and what work-arounds were acceptable and which were not. Between Bret and Martin (the primary media developer) the stability, performance, and overall functionality of the media features improved dramatically in less than a year. Within 3 months they had already surpassed the quality and functionality of the previous media application. As a lead, Bret is great at recognizing the strengths and weakness of his people and being able to customize his management style to each individual. Bret is a great mentor who provides practical advice on how best to succeed within the given work environment. And Bret is also great at showing appreciation for the good work done by those around him." and "Bret is the kind of senior software engineer who can wear multiple hats and provide leadership in a chaotic, high pressure environment. When he first joined DirectVoxx, in ten weeks he created and executed the QA plan for our flagship product, which allowed us to successfully demo to Apple, Intel and key investors. Since then, he has stepped into the dual role of Release Manager and QA Manager, owning and driving the schedules for three products that will determine the fortunes of our company. Recently, he has also taken on some feature design work, demonstrating his passion, versatility and drive to continuously upgrade his skill set. It is an honor and a pleasure to work with Bret."
Listed skills include Test Automation, Quality Assurance, Test Planning, Requirements Analysis, and 16 others.
