Police Officer

Bay Of Plenty & Solomon Islands

General Duties Policing. Training, Domestic Violence, Investigations, Over seas deployments, Strategic Response Group. My main role in the latter years of the Police was that of Community Liaison/Crime Prevention Officer and trainer. I implemented many new initiatives in the community which had a direct result in crime reduction and community safety. I was a driving force involved in setting up and running Community Patrols in the local area and worked extensively with Neighbourhood Watch. I wrote, and set up, several training packages including “Armed Robbery Survival”, Body Language & “Methamphetamine Awareness”. This training was delivered to both police and civilian agencies. In addition I worked on many varied operations. These included VIP protection Operations, Undercover Operations, rescue operations to name a few.Whilst in the Solomon Islands I was Team Leader of the New Georgia Province. One of my main roles was to teach crime prevention techniques not only to the local Police but too the local village leaders. Local people were also taught how to keep themselves and their family’s safe. Basic policing skills up to advanced investigation techniques were taught to local Police.I was responsible for all Serious Crime matters, Training, Crime prevention & Police related incidents. I was also responsible for many non traditional policing matters. These included both complex and simple community issues. A very effective technique that I used was going out into and working with the community. This was invaluable in gaining the trust and respect of the Solomon Island people. Whilst there, I ran many successful Crime Prevention seminars for the locals. These resulted in many Crime Prevention committees as they were known being set up throughout the province in the villages. I received 3 Commendations for my work in the Solomon Islands and was made an honouree Solomon Island Chief by the local people.
