Co-organized year-long participatory mapping project and territorial auto-demarcation efforts with traditional riverine community of Montanha e Mangabal. Facilitated workshop on mapping technology and methodology with Munduruku youth. Both communities situated in Brazil’s Tapajós River Basin are organizing against a series of hydroelectric dams planned on the river that runs through their territories. Wrote four other successful grant proposals to augment funds for the project. Responsible for bimonthly written reports to university.

Environment and Energy Division, Project BOL/84142: "Gestión del Conocimiento en Adaptación al Cambio Climático y Reducción de Riesgo de Desastre desde lo Local" (Knowledge Management in Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction Strategies at the local level)Researched climate change adaptation and disaster risk management strategies currently being deployed throughout Bolivia at the municipal level to support UNDP-Bolivia’s 2015 Human Development Report. Created a climate change “toolbox” of 150+ methodologies, modules and studies to support municipal policymakers confront environmental change.

Consular, Public Affairs, and Political Economic SectionsAuthored report on economic and political conditions in Bolivia for annual assessment of visa and passport fraud, analyzing trends in hydrocarbon market, narcotics trafficking, and trafficking in persons. Conducted visa validation study assessing visa usage of 1500+ low-income domestic workers. Presented on youth leadership, U.S. university admissions and scholarship opportunities to group of 20 rural university students and professors.

Environment and Natural Resource Division, Law & Policy SectionWrote 15 memoranda on congressional hearings and mark-ups concerning U.S. environmental law and policy; topics including the Lacey Act, the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, and Klamath River Basin water politics. Conducted research on the status of implementing regulations of the European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR). Analyzed trends in China’s forestry industry/timber trade from the 2012 Chinese Forestry Development Report, focusing on the changing quantities of Chinese timber imports from particular timber producing countries. Analyzed EPA data on environmental enforcement to provide background information related to proposed U.S.-EU Free Trade Agreement.
