Aevi is a fintech company specialising in a cashless payments and enabling the next generation of payment devices through the use of its online services, SDKs and application marketplace. During my time with Aevi I have been designing and developing serverless software solutions, APIs and SDKs for AEVI's cloud based platforms using AWS. The services implement many aspects of payment processing and onboarding for payment devices and services. I have been responsible for the development, deployment and maintenance of various online and Android based applications and libraries including a number of Software Development Kits. Several core product solutions include;* Platform Notification - An AWS CDK Construct capable of being included into any serverless application to provide notification services in a quick, simple, cost effective and platform consistent way.* Platform Monitoring - A service capable of monitoring many aspects of payment processing. Currently used to monitor payment settlements.* Connect - A collection of online cloud based APIs and services allowing customers to interact with many of AEVIs endpoint management systems to onboard and control payment terminals in the field. These are implemented and deployed globally as a suite of serverless applications (AWS) built in Typescript and deployed using Terraform.* CloudFlow - A serverless cloud based solution allowing payments to initiated remotely from any source to any payment terminal.* AppFlow - An open source set of APIs allowing developers to initiate financial requests. Implemented multiple versions of the API in Java and Typescript.* Mobile device management (MDM) solution (Agent) to control and track the Aevi enabled devices in the field.* Payment terminal related applications including payment application(s), payment services, credit card handling services.

Redberry Digital is a digital agency producing websites, apps and other digital content solutions. Working as technical director I have been responsible for leading a team of developers as well as designing, developing, producing and maintaining solutions for many different clients whilst working closely with an in-house creative team. I have helped build the technical production capability to enable Redberry to deliver highly technical digital solutions quickly and efficiently. This work has included the introduction of technical management processes such as agile project management, source control, backup management, deployment, testing and quality control processes. I have also been responsible for the design and build of an in-house framework and technology that has enabled Redberry to deliver quality websites on a standard MVC PHP based platform (Zend Framework). The framework has been developed and improved throughout my time at Redberry and now includes many of the standard features required commonly on websites. These include; image management and manipulation, user management, URL routing, emails and notification, news and content updating, front end templating and built-in responsive capabilities.I have also helped the company produce a number of Android and iOS applications, introducing a completely new area of technical expertise to the agency. This work has included hands-on development of these applications as well as design and management of there implementation. Many of the applications produced communicate with online cloud based services to make use of dynamic content.During my time at Redberry I have worked directly with various clients including: Waterstones, Marriott Hotels Inc., Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, Blackberry, CentreSoft. I am routinely engaged in technical and business discussions with these clients at all levels.

HomeHub was a start up company attempting to produce an all encompassing home automation solution. The main application software was developed using Java running within an OSGi framework. The software provided an if-this-then-that style events engine and a number of interfaces to common devices that can be deployed around the home.The project was never successfully launched as a stand alone product but the software was later used in a commercial solution for automating home heating in conjunction with a company called SensibleHeat. Sensible Heat is an installer/provider of automated heating solutions in the UK. The software is used in their WebManager product and is still available today.

Project Jupiter is a development of a high availability media asset management system for use by BBC News. The project was based around a clustered J2EE application server and required to be available for use 24x7x365 in a highly demanding news-broadcasting environment.Involved with the project since initiation by BBC Technology. During the early stages of the project responsible for initial design analysis and requirements gathering using UML use-case techniques. Performed the role of team leader for the J2EE application server development.
