About Brett Egan-Briers

I have been involved with Firefighters PPE, predominately their 'turn out gear' or structural firefighting ensemble since 2000. I am currently the National Technical Lead for National PPE contracts accessed by UK Fire and Rescue Service. I work for Kent Fire and Rescue Service who under the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) Fire Commercial Transformation Programme lead in the clothing category for the sector. As such I have been responsible for the risk assessments and output based performance specifications for the Collaborative PPE (structural fire kit), National Workwear and Specialist PPE frameworks.I'm vice chair of the NFCC PPE and Clothing committee and work closely with the NFCC Contaminants group.I am also the NFCC representative on British Standards Committees PH1 'Footwear', PH3/2 'Protection from Heat and Flame', PH6/3 'Firefighters Helmets' and Chair of PH 0 'ISO Personal Protection' and PH 14 'Firefighters PPE'. Additionally working in the European and International standards community.
