Dr. Hagman is a Health Scientist Administrator in the Division of Treatment and Recovery Research (DTRR) at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). In this position, he is responsible for designing, reviewing, implementing and managing research activities in the division’s grant portfolio in the area of identifying mechanisms of behavior change (MOBC) or “active ingredients” that underlie how psychosocial treatments for alcohol use problems are purported to operate. Dr. Hagman was highly recruited to the Division to fulfill this special need as well as to assist in enhancing the behavioral treatment grant portfolio. Dr. Hagman has undertaken several other initiatives at NIH, which include the following: 1) serves as primary research scientist on a UH2 grant titled “A Policy Relevant US Trauma Care System Pragmatic Trial for PTSD and Comorbidity” and collaborator for the NIH Health Care Systems Collaboratory Network; 2) co-authored two Program Announcements with the Collaboratory Research Network on Addictions (CRAN) and the NIH Medication Adherence Network; 3) participates in several cross-NIH workgroups such as the Science of Behavior Change initiative and the NIH Medication Adherence network; and 4) serves as the primary scientist on the Collaborative Research Addiction Network.
