About Brett Howard

I am a software and hardware designer with a focus on crypto mathematics and security protocols.In 1991 I cofounded TimeStep Corporation with two colleagues and became CTO and VP Engineering helping it grow to a successful 140-person high-tech company. In that capacity I was directly involved with running a moderately large development team (55 people), standards development and global technical sales. I also spoke at international symposia including the RSA Conference, Usenix, and Indocrypt.More recently I have been involved in education in the not-for-profit sector. I worked as a volunteer for the National Education Foundation in Pakistan for seven months in 2005 and lately have been volunteering as a math tutor as part of the Pathways to Education program.I enjoy travel and outdoor activities, especially canoeing, cycling and cross-country skiing.
