Firefighters work to contain or extinguish all destructive fires within the 64 square mile Fire District as well as surrounding mutual aid Fire Districts when called upon. Firefighters train to fight structure, wildland and other hazardous fires. Firefighters are also trained in different types of rescue and CPR. Combat Firefighters also have an opportunity to advance after firefighter training is complete. Firefighters continue their training to include certifications as apparatus drivers, pumper operators, and water tender operators. Firefighters will learn the skills necessary to operate the fire engines, brush units, rescue and water tenders to support firefighters during fire suppression operations.- Weekly drill every Monday night (required minimum of 75% attendance)- Monthly "tour of duty” shift's (minimum of 36 hours)- Direct patient contact on regular basis- Community involvement through annual canned food drive, Santa walk, BINGO tournament, Easter egg hunt, and other events

Resident Volunteers live full time at one of two stations and work 24 hours on with 48 hours off. During this time they participate as a responder with out of district volunteers, in district home responders, and carrer staff. Resident's report to their officer and are assigned duties and tasks as a career firefighter would. Resident's are continually monitored for work ethic, performance and skills knowledge throughout the day, both in training and on emergency scenes. Resident volunteers are expected to be full time students with a local college, working toward a degree in emergency services while maintaing an acceptable GPA. Resident are expected to attend and participate in many training exercises on a weekly basis. There are also day drills that are conducted by staff and volunteers to provide additional opportunity to complete task books and skills evaluations.

Summer job:- Delivery and pick up of paint, ladders, and other equipment on and off various job sites/locations in Oregon and Washington- Prep items to be painted- Responsible for keeping fleet vehicles filled with gas, restocking the shelves, and keeping the shop clean

Seasonal work: Filing, bank deposits, and mail pick up.
