Winner of a national competition set up by a UK-based travel and volunteering organisation to report on my experiences of teaching for a summer at a large secondary school in Cape Town, South Africa. The rationale was to report on what the experience was like compared to teaching in the UK, with a view to giving younger, potential pre-service teachers an insight in to how volunteer teaching in a different setting compares with the in-service profession in the UK.
