Leading X's developers, he is responsible for technology strategy which includes information, communications, operations, and competitive technologies. One of the primary responsibilities is to be continuously aware of technology trends and future changes that will impact X's competitive positioning.Reporting to the CEO, Brett's immediate responsibility is for overseeing the development of native apps for Android, iOS and Web platforms as well as providing advice as to the future direction of X. In addition to this, Brett provides assistance with various C-level activities such as strategic planning, budgeting and capital raising.

In 2004 Brett purchased Killara Pools a failing pool company. Within 12 months Brett turned this loss making business into a profitable business that was then known as Platypus Spas and Pools. As part of this Brett drove initiatives to bring the business online. This included launching PlatypusOnline.com.au one of the first retail pool websites in Australia. When this website was operating it had top rankings in Google for many significant keywords.In the five years that Brett managed Platypus Spas the business had sales of approximately $3.5 million. At its peak Brett led a team of six employees. Being such a small team Brett took overall responsibility for all areas. In 2009 Brett exited the business to pursue fresh opportunities and complete the commercial law component of a degree he had started whilst managing Platypus Spas and Pools.
