Lead designer for actuation drive circuit used in space application. Elements of the design include a boost power supply, analog sensor feedback conditioning, and high current solenoid drive stage. During this development I built prototype electronics, generated test documentation and associated test fixtures and produced full schematics and assembly drawings.

Analysis, design and support activities associated with medical device electronics.

I qualified the existing array bias high voltage supply design and identified areas in need of redesign. Worked to develop a triac based output surge protection scheme to mitigate high discharge current damage to the supply. Successfully implemented a short term solution for re-working units in production and a long term solution for future procurement.

I served most recently as Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for a Control Actuation System (CAS) Design:I recently completed the CAS electronics architecture and proto-electronics design for a four axis CAS electronics capable of driving four control surfaces, controlling a throttle-valve, and conditioning temperature sensors, pressure sensors and acceleration sensors. The design also included and interlock driver circuit to safely ignite fin unlock pyrotechnic devices. I received complements from peers for my unique way of using ratiometric voltages to increase accuracy in the pressure sensor signal conditioning. After developing the detail specifications and a prototype, a larger product-implementation electronics team was formed where I continued as an individual contributor and subject matter expert for the CAS electronics design. I also have served the program during the final stages of development including the full release of assembly drawings and schematics, full acceptance testing of flight hardware and some initial development testing over temperature.Prior to this 2+ year project, I contributed as part of the servo electronics design team for a naval ship defense weapon system. I served as REA for the digital controller circuit card assembly design, as well as the REA for the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) power conditioning circuit card assembly. In addition to these responsibilities, I served on many other design teams over my 11+ year period as a valued member of the RMS Engineering Staff.

At UF I worked and studied under Dr. Bullock, instructing students in a Linear Controls Lab. Material included system stability and controller design, both analog and digital. Responsibilities included training students to use lab equipment and software, teaching control theory and grading lab reports.

I participated in the data collection phase of the TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission), doing soundings in the Marshall Islands. Responsibilities included tracking sounding devices using MSS (Meteorological Sounding System) equipment, and data cataloging.

I performed laboratory evaluations of switch mode power supplies to detect failures due to high temperature, high current, and lot variations. Responsibilities included running tests of marginal components, building test fixtures and reporting results. Limited experiences in semiconductor decapsulation, analyzing schematics and HASS/HALT screening techniques. First introduced to LabVIEW during this job.

I assisted engineers in the design and construction of an electric motor stator test fixture. Responsibilities included schematic production using AutoCAD, and general technician work. Experiences include exposure to troubleshooting techniques using multimeter/oscilloscope.
