Dr. Scheiner received his PhD in plasma physics from the University of Iowa in 2017 and currently holds the position of Modeling Engineer 4 at Lam Research Corporation. Prior to joining Lam he worked as a staff scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory. His dissertation was titled Theory and Simulation of Electron Sheaths and Anode Spots in Low Pressure Laboratory Plasmas. He has a broad background in the use of theoretical and computational methods in the study of transport properties and plasma physics and has extensive experience in the analysis of experimental data and validation of simulations. Areas of expertise include gas and plasma transport, ion and neutral gas heating, low temperature plasmas, electrical breakdown, atmospheric pressure plasmas, sheath physics, inertial confinement fusion, laser ablation, radiation hydrodynamics simulations, and particle-based simulation methods including particle-in-cell, direct simulation Monte-Carlo (DSMC), and molecular dynamics. Dr. Scheiner is also a qualified experimental PI on the Omega laser facility and has served as such on 4 experiment campaigns on that facility. Dr. Scheiner is first author on 14 and coauthor on 9 peer reviewed publications.
