The largest mega event ever held in the MEASA region. Attracting over 24 million visits during the 6-month duration of the event. Held on a purpose built 4.38 square kilometre site with an investment of over $7 billion. Sustainability and energy savings at its heart. Role Included:• Led budgeting, strategic procurement, and contract and commercial management for all operations support services; this entailed cleaning and sustainable waste management, facilities management, logistics, and transportation services.• Delivered 100+ procurement packages and contracts, along with fostering five commercial partnerships.• Championed dispute resolution on all challenges across operations support services.

Role Included:• Planned and implemented a successful sustainable waste management strategy and solution, including the development and operation of the first waste to fuel plant in the region.• Spearheaded the achievement of a diversion from landfill rate of over 90% of the 1.1 million tonnes of waste generated in the build-up to and during the event period; this was accomplished via a successful circular economy approach, a first for a global mega event.• Owned responsibility for cleaning and sustainable waste management strategy and delivery, including more than 5,000 Expo and service provider staff delivering a 24/7 operation.• Reported to the Expo Executive Board and the Dubai Government on budget, procurement, recruitment, mobilisation, and operations updates.• Engaged stakeholders and led presentations to internal parties, Bureau International Des Expositions, international country participants, Dubai Government departments, and the media.

Role Included:• Development and implementation of the strategy for the structure, recruitment, procurement and delivery of the event operations services from initial bid through to post-event dissolution, over 10 years• Facilities management strategy for the ongoing operational management of the development from construction completion• Delivery of the end-to-end procurement and mobilisation of over 100 FM and operations services contracts and fostering 5 commercial partnerships, including substantial market engagement exercises• Developing scopes of services and specifications, standard operating procedures, and full tender documentation• Asset management and handover strategies and procedures, covering the transition from construction to operations• Operational and life cycle cost modelling, including the identification of budgets, service charge estimates and sinking fund requirements.
