I had the wonderful fortune to be entrusted with 8th and 9th graders for a year. I began with two particular questions as I planned for and taught classes: how can I help my students ask better questions of a text, and how can I help them ask better questions of themselves? Through the lenses of Medieval Humanities (particularly focusing on 'The Divine Comedy') and a survey of the New Testament, I sought to draw the students into big ideas through the great books—and to connect those great books to everyday life.
