Formerly the Associate Director of the Ivy League, I transitioned from college athletics administration to the field of education in 2008 and now serve as Director at New Haven Promise, where I oversee digital strategies, outreach and data systems and play a deep role in policy both locally and nationally. Under my watch, the organization has grown the largest and most engaged online following in the fast-paced Promise Movement. I've participated in the Strategic Data Project Institute for Leadership in Analytics, a Harvard University program which trains education professionals to leverage data to inform decision making, and served as an Education Pioneers Fellow, which provides pathways into education leadership to solve problems outside the classroom.

Director, Data & Digital SystemsNew Haven Promise Jan 2013 - PresentNew Haven, Connecticut, Us• Designed digital systems and strategies to allow the initiative to rapidly expand outreach, scholarship applications, qualifiers and annual disbursement amounts while also permitting the establishment and growth of a comprehensive internship program. In five years Promise has tripled the number of enrolled scholars and dramatically increased the disbursement of scholarship dollars (anticipated $3.6 million in 2018-19). The internship initiative, which started from scratch in 2014, had 161 paid interns at 60 hiring agencies in the summer of 2018.• Constructed online portals that have vastly improved communication with the school system and its counselors to better target potential qualifiers, creating a narrowed scope of work and enhanced yield. Also developed methods to collect and track student performance which allows for deep analysis of performance from high school to college.• Developed a strong local brand with an aggressive strategic campaign — focused on putting a positive face on New Haven students. In four years the initiative's social media outreach grew from fewer than 500 followers to more than 18,000, making New Haven the most engaged Promise program in the nation.• Recruited a record 250+ attendees for the first PromiseNet Conference to be held on the East Coast. Representatives from more than 20 states descended upon Connecticut in 2014, which helped lift New Haven Promise to the forefront of the movement, resulting in Time Magazine recently calling it "one of the better-known promise programs." Also served on the organizing committee and as a technology panelist for PromiseNet in both 2015 (Kalamazoo, Mich.) and 2016 (Washington, D.C.).• Involved in policy research and decisions which impact the scholars, who come mostly from low-income families and are first-generation-to-college students. This includes the leverage of scholarship dollars for additional income for students through Passport To Promise and three college-based scholarships. -
Assistant To The DirectorThe Penn Relays Apr 1990 - Present• Served the world's largest annual meet, initially as an employee of the University of Pennsylvania and, for the last 25 years, in a contracted position.• Developed the historic meet's first entry database, opening the possibility to dramatically increase both participants and spectators. Since the development of the systems, the event's annual attendance has surpassed 100,000 a year for well over a decade and the number of participating high schools has topped more than a thousand.• Edit the annual program as well as media and officials guide books while serving as an overseer of public information from the meet itself. Helped build the fastest and most comprehensive results website in the sport's history.• Considered a master official with more than 25 years of service to the meet and, in 2016, was named the recipient of the Jesse Abramson Award for service to the Relays.
