Operations ManagerArbor Hospice Nov 2019 - PresentAnn Arbor, Michigan, UsI manage and oversee daily operations of the Arbor West Region which is under the umbrella of Northstar Care Community – the largest nonprofit in Michigan. By allocating resources, overcoming challenges, and designing new processes, policies, and procedures, I’ve been able to advance continuous improvement to workflows and patient flow through. I’ve also been heavily involved in recruiting and onboarding new staff. In fact, I coach, mentor, and guide the careers of 9 nurses, 2 social workers, a chaplain, and several home health aides who all work remotely and are spread across Livingston and Washtenaw counties. Under my stewardship, Arbor Hospice has enjoyed under 5% turnover in 3 years since I began in the role of Operations Manager. On top of engaging and retaining a team of top talent, I also maintain fiscal responsibility of budgets to order equipment and medications while simultaneously overseeing staff scheduling, payroll, timecards, and mileage reports. I meet weekly with an interdisciplinary team to discuss patient care and make decisions on patient eligibility based on a 6-month disease trajectory to make recommendations for further care or discharge, with the goal of improving patient comfort and optimizing patient and family outcomes. When COVID-19 hit, I ensured safety and quality standards, including working with staff through thevaccination process and liaising with supply chain leadership to guarantee the availability of necessary items (e.g., PPE). -
Assistant Operations ManagerArbor Hospice Aug 2018 - Nov 2019Ann Arbor, Michigan, UsAfter working for a couple of years as an RN Case Manager, I was promoted to partner and collaborate with fellow executives. We evaluated, analyzed, and brainstormed ideas to improve operations, financials, and quality assurance procedures. I then, designed and implemented training activities for staff members that provided clinical and didactic instruction using various delivery methodologies to ensure material retention, promote leadership, and create positive learning opportunities. The overall goal was to be a patient advocate and ensure top-notch treatment and care. With that in mind, I sourced, hired, onboarded, and trained nursing staff by delivering comprehensive orientation, in-service training, and continuous education. On top of that, I reviewed and developed policies and procedures that ensured the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices and services. My team and I met weekly to create a culture of excellence focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) with an emphasis on open communication. -
Registered Nurse (Rn) Case ManagerArbor Hospice Mar 2016 - Sep 2018Ann Arbor, Michigan, UsIn this role, I managed a caseload of approximately 20 hospice patients. I assessed information gleaned from patient interviews, consultations with other professionals, and diagnostic evaluations to identify clients abilities, needs, and eligibility for home care services. Then, I provided consulting services to individuals on various issues and communicated with clients to determine needs and goals. One of the things I loved most about this role was that I was able to act as a primary nurse preceptor for new employees to facilitate the application of theory with practical experience and quality patient care. I further ensured quality patient care by maintaining stringent controls over inventory and purchased new medication, supplies, and durable medical equipment ensuring appropriate supplies to meet patient needs. -
Registered Nurse (Rn)Medilodge Apr 2013 - Mar 2016Washington, Michigan, UsI collaborated with patients and physicians/care providers to evaluate and negotiate care plans and assessed medical symptoms, pharmaceutical effects, gaps in care, and known conditions while advising on best practices and corrective actions. This allowed me to achieve a high level of compassionate care and support to hospice, long-term care, rehabilitation, diabetic, Alzheimer’s, and dementia patients and their families facing multiple co-morbidities and complexities including tracheostomies and wounds. I helped patients achieve wellness and autonomy by utilizing behavioral change strategies. Equally as important, I championed the success and career steadiness of 6 Certified Nursing Assistants with effective training and goal-setting techniques that ensured comprehensive and compassionate patient care.
