After the review, I was retained to liquidate the firm in bankruptcy. Negotiated millions of dollars in settlements, litigated 150+ claims, and sold assets (cell phone towers and equipment) for creditors.

CIO and operations chief to launch this successful Internet startup, the “Employee Benefits Broker of the New Economy.” Managed technology and operations, published articles, and earned a NJ insurance brokerage license. Aon, the $7 Billion industry leader, evaluated 20 of our competitors before acquiring MoreBenefits (which is when I left).

Introduced eCommerce to this bank / mortgage / credit card company. Implemented Internet marketing and self-service capabilities in each business unit to improve customer service, costs, and quality. Within six months each new system was reaching at least 20% of all customers and had paid for itself. Advanta disbanded my team when it sold over 80% of its assets to JP Morgan Chase.

Assignments included eBusiness analysis for Sony and CTO for two eBusiness startups. During this time I joined the board of two eBusiness startups.

Retained to launch Borders.com after success had eluded an internal team. Our successful launch led Gomez to rate Borders.com #2 in the "music and books" category, behind only Amazon. Managed 70 employees (in technology, marketing, content, creative, and customer service) plus IBM consultants. While I was there we rebuilt the site technical architecture, aesthetics, content, search, database, operations, and hosting location. Departed when Borders chose to take a different direction, folding the eBusiness into Amazon.com before liquidating.

Supported 3000+ users in 40+ countries; negotiated & rolled out global Lotus Notes and Oracle contracts; architected globally distributed databases; implemented digital artwork workflows; reengineered international reporting processes, and renegotiated contracts that saved Sony over $10 million per year. Reported to Sony Music CIO.CIO / VP for the successful Sony PlayStation launch (94-96) Led a global IT team that delivered all systems early, for $19 million less than allocated, allowing thorough testing and an on-time launch of the PlayStation. Launched PlayStation marketing, content provider, and operational websites.VP New Technologies for Sony Music (96-97) Launched B2B websites, launched the Sony Music online store, launched international VPN networks to deliver a 150% ROI, and organized digital music distribution. Reported jointly to CIO and SVP New Business.
