Wash InternEngineering Ministries International (Emi) May 2015 - Aug 2015Colorado Springs, Co, UsI worked as an intern for the WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) Team to evaluate the feasibility of providing safe water to the people living in Menkao, DR Congo. The focus of the team is to evaluate potential water sources in the area and provide a conceptual analysis of alternatives for delivering water to the people in these communities.Menkao is a peri-urban area located in the southwest region of DR Congo on the periphery of the capital city Kinshasa. Currently, only 10% of households along this hillside have access to safe water. There are few water sources, so most households use rainwater (when it is available) as well as collecting water from springs, rivers and hand dug wells which typically require walking long distances over extremely difficult terrain. -

Worked on site at Del Webb-Sweetgrass project in Richmond, TX for a three month internship. The Del Webb project is a $50 million, 500 acre master planned residential community with 1520 lots. On site, I inspected underground utility installation of water, sanitary and storm sewers, also paving new roads and bridge construction.
