I have been involved in International Logistics for nearly a third of a century, predominately in Tasmania, Australia, but also spending some years in other areas of Australia and overseas. My career in this industry has provided me with a window to the planet in relation to geography, trade and culture having been fortunate enough to have touched a good portion of the globe. I have been able to successfully negotiate language, culture and borders around the planet - physically, verbally and electronically. I have developed a strong interest in agriculture over the years. The science of nature fascinates me. I would much prefer to sit around an outdoor fire with a beekeeper with a glass of good Tasmanian whisky than endure a boardroom meeting. Tasmania is well known for its excellence in produce. To this regard I remain on a number of boards in Tasmania that relate to agriculture, and I enjoy being part of this community. I come from an era when there were no computers in my classroom. The concept of calling someone live on a video screen was the thing of comic books. There were three channels on the television and cigarettes were advertised with alcohol during the morning cartoons. Despite all of the changes both physically and philosophically I have witnessed over the years, I firmly believe that the changes to our energy grids and the refocus to care for our planet will outshine any of the advancements that I have seen from those early days. Throughout my life music has always played an integral part of my existence. Having trained under a well-known classical teacher in my younger years and then played in bands for fun in the wilder years, my love for the guitar has never faulted. It is usually the first thing I pick up in the morning and the last thing I put down in the evening.I am forever looking for inspiration. I am extremely lucky to have a life that is constantly exposing me to new and exciting things. We are lucky humans to live at the exact distance from our closest star to maintain our existence.

PrincipalThe Ship - Consulting Aug 2024 - PresentTasmania, AustraliaThe Ship – Consulting is a consolidation of the knowledge, and networks developed over the last thirty years. It is envisioned that The Ship – Consulting will be a mechanism for parties involved in trade, freight and logistics to engage in services tailored to the needs of the project as determined by the client. Being independent and motivated by outcomes allows for dedicated focus on clients’ needs. Initially, The Ship – Consulting will only take one client / project at a time to ensure complete dedication to outcomes. In time, plans are in place to grow the business to incorporate other aspects of trade related consultancy with additional respected and topic specific professionals. In a time where corporate reporting and ever-changing landscapes of trade and supply chain are prevalent, The Ship – Consulting can focus on tasks that demand attention where potentially time and resources are otherwise diminished with shared responsibilities internally.
