Bio for speaking engagements, etc:Brett Crosby is the Co-founder and Chief Customer Officer of PeerStreet, a platform for investing in real estate backed loans. Brett was previously the Director of Product Marketing at Google where his 10-year career spanned many of Google’s most prominent products. Most notably he co-founded Google Analytics, helped start Google's mobile advertising business, ran the founding product marketing team that launched Google+ and ran the global teams responsible for the dramatic growth of Chrome, Gmail, Docs, and Drive. Before Google he co-founded Urchin Software Corporation, a web analytics service acquired by Google in 2005. Brett advises and invests in startups and is an active real estate investor. He graduated from the University of Southern California with degrees in International Relations and Political Science. He furthered his education with programs at Georgetown, Michigan State and Semester at Sea (run through the University of Pittsburgh). He’s been published in Forbes, Fast Company and Entrepreneur.com and writes original content on Medium and Twitter @Brettc.

Ran marketing for our fledgling Mobile and Local Ads teams. Built the teams, helped grow the businesses to over 1b in revenue and helped acquire and onboard AdMob, a $750m acquisition.

After Google acquired our company, Urchin, I helped create Google Analytics. I ran the pre-launch go-to-market planning and positioning, launch communications, press, etc and post launch growth. I ran product marketing for Google Analytics, Website Optimizer and other related products. I am one of the founders of Google Analytics and helped build it into what it is today.Interesting tidbit: Competitors had tried to position GA as a free tool for bloggers, but not for business. Their primary rationale was that the tools were similar, but that GA lacked professional services (something Google was notoriously bad at back then), and they were the key to success. In a Jiu-Jitsu style business maneuver, we wholeheartedly agreed with competitors, then launched a third party professional services program that galvanized all of the industry pundits in our favor. The result was that everyone loudly agreed that GA was the right solution and to save your money for professional services. GA then took off among businesses of all sizes. It was so successful that we eventually did launch a premium version of GA with full account managers, SLAs, etc. But by then, the battle had been won.

As a founder, I also wrote our business models, worked on our funding rounds and started many of our teams including our sales team, business development team, PR and marketing teams and worked on many of our largest deals. I was a key product influencer, on the board of directors and instrumental in our successful acquisition by Google in 2005.
