I also co-taught the HERS Rater Course for Southface, developed and taught the HERS Rater Course for Home Energy Concepts, and taught high performance homebuilding courses, energy code workshops and consumer education seminars on energy conservation and efficiency through a consulting agreement with Cleveland State Community College (Cleveland, TN) and helped them develop their curriculum for an adult education certificate program and a two-year degree program. Earthcraft House Regional Program ManagerSouthface Jan 2004 - Jan 2005Atlanta, Ga, UsI trained builders, architects, designers, trade contractors and others in high performance design and construction. I managed the regional expansion of EarthCraft House™, a residential environmentally responsible construction program. I worked with The Noisette Company on the revitalization of the City of North Charleston (incorporating EarthCraft House as a key component of this effort), as well as builders in Greenville, Charleston, Savannah, and Birmingham. I was also involved in the early stages of the Coastal Green Developer program that was developed for Coastal Georgia. I wrote proposals, developed budgets, managed Fellows and Interns who worked on these projects, saw the projects through to completion and wrote final reports. I taught classes to code officials and architects for their continuing education units, and developed the curriculum for Southface’s Homebuilding School and EarthCraft House Inspector training. Additionally, I managed the training contract for the Department of Energy’s Building America program, and developed and delivered 10 workshops in 4 months in 6 states. I was part of the Residential Technical Management Team at Southface that developed our program standards (EarthCraft House, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR and RightChoice for Jackson EMC) through a consensus process. I also served on the Advanced Rater Task Force for RESNET, the national Home Energy Ratings System organization. -

I helped spearhead the expansion of EarthCraft House into adjoining states. I provided scheduling, material lists, detailed instructions on how to build energy efficient homes, organized a Building Advisory Council comprised of construction professionals and allied professions (Urban Design Studio, Regional Planning Agency, Chattanooga Code Officials) to provide input on how Habitat homes should be built by this affiliate. During my tenure, this affiliate built the only homes in the Chattanooga area to the ENERGY STAR standard and reduced costs by $5,000 per home and decreased production time. I oversaw construction on $443,000 hard costs during this time (12 homes) that had an appraised value of approximately $936,000.
