From surveyor secondment, through to technical solutions in open cut and underground mines, the emphasis was always on quality people and a straight forward transaction.Brett spent some quality time conducting resurveys and gyroscopic check surveys for a variety of clients. Senior SurveyorCardno Spectrum Survey Sep 2001 - Jan 2014Australia Armenia Bulgaria Ghana Indonesia Pakistan Tanzania The PhilippinesBrett started with Spectrum Survey & Mapping (later Cardno Spectrum Survey) as a student surveyor in 1999, doing end of month surveys for BHP iron ore with a total station! Once graduated, Brett moved to Kalgoorlie to take up open pit and underground mine surveying throughout the region, before moving to Parkes in NSW to work on Lift 2 of the North Parkes mine. Stints then followed in Tanzania and Olympic Dam before Brett took a year sabbatical to see the world.On his return, Brett mobilised to Ghana to work at the Ahafo site while contracted to Newmont. There he managed the training and development of the national survey team for 18 months.Projects in Armenia, Indonesia, The Philippines, Pakistan Bulgaria and Australia followed in both underground and surface surveying roles.During his time at Cardno, Brett introduced the Maptek 8800 Laser scanner to the business, and least square adjustments using CompNet in underground mines. -
SurveyorMcelhanney Aug 2005 - Jun 2006British Columbia And The North West Territories, CanadaWhile on a working holiday to Canada, Brett worked at McElhanny as a surveyor based out of Vancouver. During this time, Brett worked on the Cambie cut and cover of the Canada Line (rail linking YVR to downtown), as well as oil and gas projects in the north of British Columbia and the NWT.Other projects included 20km of topographic survey of the Alaskan Highway out of Fort St John, and a survey of a wooded mountain area around Chilliwack for housing development. A great time was had dodging bears and working in the rain and snow!
