I joined Peoples to help them enter the Denver market, develop a commercial lending culture and introduce technology. When I started we had 1 C&I loan on the books. After 3.4 years we grew their C&I portfolio from $1MM to $31MM, Owner Occupied CRE from $16MM to $43MM and CRE from $18MM to $58M. That’s $97MM in commercial loan growth in 3 years. We also achieved PLP status as an SBA lender in that period of time. The bank was purchased by Community Banks of Colorado in late 2017.

Rate Pilot was startup that was attempting to create a marketplace for capital by matching borrowers with lenders. I was responsible for working with the IT team to build an online underwriting platform, find borrowers and lenders, build profiles and connect them. I also helped the company raise $2MM in equity capital from angel investors. The company built a functioning product but failed in the second round of funding and never made it to market. I use this painful experience to help others avoid the same fate.

President of three branches in Jefferson County with 20 team members, $150MM in deposits and $60MM in business loans. Certified Commercial Lender. Reduced non-performing loans by helping borrowers who no longer qualified in the bank find financing elsewhere. When I left we had the cleanest portfolio in the company.

I joined 1stBank's management training program in 1995 where I performed every job in the bank. After completing the training, I managed operations at a retail bank in Silverthorne and significantly improved the performance of the branch by simply hiring nice people. The positive work environment attracted top talent in the area which resulted in better customer service, more "word of mouth" referrals and growth in both deposits and loans. I started my lending career making simple consumer loans and suffered my 1st, and only, significant loan loss of $5K. Over time I progressed into mortgage lending, then construction, then commercial real estate and finally development lending. I built 5 banks for 1stBank by supervising construction, hiring the team and managing the location until it achieved profitability, then I was generally transferred to do it again. I was the Sr. Commercial Lender and Appraisal Review Officer. I trained Jr. Officers and produced $15MM in loans per quarter.
