I started with JL Audio's Tech Department in 1994 before an official Engineering Department existed. Within 9 months, I was the first titled engineer at JL Audio besides our founder, Lucio Proni. I have worked directly with Lucio for almost 30 years to help define new technologies at JL Audio. I help to properly integrate loudspeakers, amplifiers, and digital signal processing to give our products their signature, award-winning sound. I have always had "audible approval" power over all JL Audio Home Products - systems have to meet my sound standards before they can be released for public sale. I lead Acoustical Measurements for our entire organization. This extends from R&D all the way to Production (assisted by the incomparable Mr. Eric Krumme 😊.)I am the primary internal expert for Intellectual Property, interfacing with outside patent counsel. I have helped write & prosecute over 50 patents, and I participated in the defense of API in the notorious "Bob Carver Loudspeaker-Excursion Patent Trial" in Seattle.
