In my free time, I am helping a local non-profit speed up their data entry and storage system by moving it from a pen and paper system to a more streamlined and accurate digital system. The backend is built on the Django Rest Framework and Postgres while the front is developed with React.I’m also providing and maintaining websites for small businesses. They are designed in Figma, developed with React, hosted on Firebase and Google Cloud Platform, and all CMS is delivered via Strapi.

While in this role, I led development to make the sharing and preservation of research data be more pain free by developing a RESTful API that allows data to be transferred between 6 repositories and curation sites. This reduced the researchers' process of sharing data from downloading, reformating, and uploading their data between sites to simply kicking off the process with our preservation tool. The API was developed using the Django Rest Framework and the front-end was developed via React and Redux-Saga. Back-end code is Dockerized, fully unit and integration tested, and the project is extensively documented via Sphinx and Read The Docs.I’m a data manager for a research project that is providing me with CSVs to ingest and normalize for a Postgres database of my design. I’m responsible for generating summary reports, providing data extracts, and ensuring the integrity and security of the database.I’m building React components to be plugged into a React Leaflet geographical map application to display research data. These components are developed independently in Storybook.Other responsibilities while in this role includes interviewing entry level engineers, driving product success through managing project requirements and timelines, and running review and requirements meetings with clients.

I managed data for multiple projects and helped a research project already in progress catch up on their massive backlog of paper data by developing a web portal that drastically sped up their data input speed. I ingested data provided from the field to Postgres relational databases via Python ETL Scripts that extensively used the Django ORM and were run through Django cron jobs.

While in this role I focused on learning Django, Postgres, JavaScript and became comfortable with the development process. I eventually received a full time offer from Notre Dame after a good performance review.
