In my free time, I am helping a local non-profit speed up their data entry and storage system by moving it from a pen and paper system to a more streamlined and accurate digital system. The backend is built on the Django Rest Framework and Postgres while the front is developed with React.I’m also providing and maintaining websites for small businesses..

While in this role, I led development to make the sharing and preservation of research data be more pain free by developing a RESTful API that allows data to be transferred between 6 repositories and curation sites. This reduced the researchers' process of sharing data from downloading, reformating, and uploading their data between sites to simply kicking.

I managed data for multiple projects and helped a research project already in progress catch up on their massive backlog of paper data by developing a web portal that drastically sped up their data input speed. I ingested data provided from the field to Postgres relational databases via Python ETL Scripts that extensively used the Django ORM and were run.

While in this role I focused on learning Django, Postgres, JavaScript and became comfortable with the development process. I eventually received a full time offer from Notre Dame after a good performance review.
