Reporting to the CTO, I was responsible for both the Core and Content Divisions at Acuris, which consisted of 45+ Engineers across multiple locations using a blend of permanent staff, contractors and suppliers. My divisions built and maintained Acuris’ systems for sourcing, composing and distributing core financial data across the range of financial intelligence products including Debtwire, Mergermarket, Dealreporter, PaRR, Selerity and Dealogic.My role included:• Leading a team of 45+ engineers delivering full SDLC including software architecture, Agile process, QA, DevOps principles and front-end/full stack development.• Supporting team members with professional development reviews, mentoring, coaching and well-being check-ins.• Coaching the team on Lead Software Development principles.• Adopting the State of DevOps' DORA metrics, with 75% of teams scoring in the top "elite performing" category.• Supporting teams in the development of 4 proprietary React content management systems to improve the productivity of our Researchers and Lawyers.• Leading the Master Data Management (MDM) project to unify content across the group.• Leading the initiative to introduce SAML Single Sign-On (SSO).• Supporting a team in the creation of a system for content extraction and entity recognition of financial data, through machine learning (AI).Teams followed microservice architecture using NodeJS, TypeScript, React and GoLang, AWS, Agile practices (Lean, Kanban), and a strong emphasis on engineering best practice and quality.

As Tech Lead, I was responsible for leading a cross-functional product team in the delivery of the business' core capabilities. My team were early adopters of React, containerisation using Docker in production, and microservice and event-driven architectures. My split role at the BBC exposed me to a wide variety of BBC products and technologies. I've worked across BBC News, Sport, Weather, Programmes, iPlayer, Travel, advertising, analytics, Homepage, mobile applications and many more areas.As the Lead Developer for BBC.com:• Coached and mentored developers in coding best practices, test driven development and behavioural driven development.• Lead the development of the backend for the very first BBC News iOS application.• Designed the architecture and lead the development of the new BBC Homepage (international version).• Worked within the teams involved in rewriting the News and Sport websites and many other products.• Redesigned the advertising and analytics technology stack, interfacing into DoubleClick, Omniture SiteCatalyst, ComScore and many others.• Full stack development with technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP headers, MySQL, NoSQL (CouchDB/MongoDB), API development and integration, PHP and more.As the Technical Architect for BBC.com:• Defined the strategy to increase international growth/traffic.• Implemented successful solutions to speeding up the BBC websites internationally.• Designed and implemented an architecture which substantially improved the BBCs international search engine ranking, resulting in increased traffic.• Reviewed the scalability and reliability of applications and infrastructure.• Reviewed all BBC technical architecture changes, with a membership on BBC's OTAG (Online Technical Approvals Group).• Contributed towards the overall strategy of the BBC.I'm well versed in Agile methodologies having used Scrum for a number of projects (I'm a certified Scrum Master) before moving to Lean/Kanban.I like to think that I have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and am able to communicate effectively at all levels, from Developer to Stakeholder.
