I co-founded MedLeague to help connect pre-medical students with med students, doctors, and admissions experts.

I 1-on-1 tutor students on all subjects tested on the MCAT. Additionally, I teach auxiliary skills needed to excel on the MCAT (how to make the best use of limited time, how to study effectively, etc.). I have also been working on producing MCAT study content. This has included individualized content for students, as well as publically available Youtube videos where I show how to learn and solve complex MCAT topics and problems.

At A&B Private Tutors, we do so much more than just tutoring. We focus on making high-quality MCAT prep materials accessible to as many people as possible. Our goal is not to let financial constraints prevent anyone from getting a good MCAT score.

As the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Badenoch Biological Solutions (BBS), I'm dedicated to addressing a pervasive health issue that affects millions worldwide: vomiting and its harmful side effects, including increased cancer risk, tooth decay, and gum disease. Leveraging my background in biochemistry and a passion for innovation, I've developed a novel formulation that promises to mitigate these risks effectively.Our initial tissue testing has shown promising results, leading to BBS securing a $5,000 seed grant from the University Of Michigan Center For Entrepreneurship—a testament to our potential to revolutionize treatment. This early success has propelled us into further development as we explore strategic pathways to bring our groundbreaking compound to market, aiming not only to alleviate discomfort but also to prevent the long-term health consequences associated with emesis.As we stand on the brink of this exciting venture, I'm actively seeking partnerships and opportunities that align with our mission to transform healthcare through innovative solutions.

In Dr. Gomes's lab, I learned many bioinformatics tools and methods for drug discovery. I also improved my organic chemistry synthesis and analysis and my biochemistry and neuroscience research capabilities. I have worked on many different projects in this lab ranging from organic synthesis to neurochemistry drug development.This lab has encouraged my creativity and scientific inquiry by allowing me to propose ideas for original research and then provide the resources to carry out the experimentation. This has caused me to significantly improve my experimental design and think creatively to make the most available resources. These qualities have resulted in my discovery of a novel, inexpensive method of detecting protein-drug interactions.The lab has also integrated exceptionally well with my coursework which has provided a lot of research inspiration. In the Fall of 2021, I was taking Neurochemistry and Advanced Genetics. During this time, I was working on a paper with Dr. Gomes, and I recognized a particular motif in a compound that I thought could be modified to treat a specific neurologic disorder. My PI was receptive to this, and we are currently in the drug discovery phase. My experience as a researcher in the Gomes Lab has been exceptional. I've grown exponentially as a researcher in areas including scientific writing, physical experimentation, and experimental planning. I attribute much of this growth to the scientific foundation I've developed from prior labs and Dr. Gomes's ability to foster creativity and allow me to pursue interdisciplinary research that interests me.

After receiving a top MCAT score, Kaplan reached out and encouraged me to apply to teach the MCAT to others through their platform. I have taught more than 1,000 students at once in all subjects found on the MCAT (general chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, biology, genetics, physiology, psychology, sociology, and critical analysis and reasoning skills).Due to consistently receiving perfect ratings from students, I was selected for travel teaching at different universities across the country, such as the University of South Florida.This has been a gratifying job because I get to see my students' progress from day one to test day. I have also greatly improved my teaching ability and theory during my time at Kaplan. This has prepared me to take on future teaching roles in graduate school and beyond.

During this highly selective program, my team and I were presented with an invention from Mayo Clinic and were tasked with presenting a report to Mayo on how they should proceed with rolling out their new invention. During these six months, I learned many fundamental business skills, honed my ability to conduct and analyze market research, and improved my presentation abilities.The most impactful skill I gained from this experience was learning how to turn knowledge from research into a marketable product. This showed me the process between an idea and the end product. I learned how to go from research to developing something people want.

Over ten weeks and under the direction of Dr. Mikel Olson as my PI, I conducted original neuroscience research. Our research found novel connections between MMP-9 levels and memory and expanded upon the cholinergic hypothesis of Alzheimer's Disease. Publication:Olson, M.L., Badenoch, B., Benson, A., Blatti, M., Buching, C., & Glewwe, H. (in preparation). Cholinergic receptor blockade impairs spatial memory retrieval and minimizes retrieval-induced alterations in matrix metalloproteinase-9.The knowledge gained through relevant coursework and previous research provided me with the groundwork to be a competent researcher. Because of this background, I was able to propose several biochemical techniques that added robustness to our data and aided in experimental design.

I tutored general chemistry for small, longitudinal groups during my fall semester at Concordia College. I aided in their understanding of chemistry, taught time-management strategies, and scheduled additional meetings if necessary.
