Early in my career I was a teacher and taught in a wide variety of settings serving many different populations; from leading FBI Agents through Ropes and Initiative courses to teaching English to Japanese Elementary students. Teaching at a Juvenile Detention Center taught me the importance of advocating for the needs of my students/customers. A leave of absence to teach in Japan provided an opportunity to enhance my adaptability and creativity. Returning from Japan, I assumed a new role providing assistive technology services to students in need and promoting technology integration into instruction. These experiences strengthened my advocacy, teaching, and sales skills and provided opportunities to master delivering technology services and an array of instructional technology and media tools. This foundation led to positions in IT project management and technical and business architecture. My architecture work focused on developing, monitoring, and publishing the annual division technology plan (~$15M), defining emerging instructional technology needs, ensuring instructional technology equity, coordinating central computer ordering (~$6M annually), and providing operational support to IT Finance and executive leadership. A key factor in my success was my ability to collaborate cross-departmentally and with our primary business partners.
