The Kurnell Refinery was closed in 2014 and converted into a fuels import terminal. A small team of employees have been kept on to ensure the safe decommissioning and demolition of now redundant equipment. The role allowed me to use my operational knowledge to make safe plant by proving hydrocarbon free and handing over to contractors for demolition, using the Caltex permit to work and gas testing procedures. These high risk tasks are being performed alongside live lines, tanks and other terminal related plant.Other roles held at Caltex Kurnell include;Operations Specialist for the Control Systems Modernisation Project. Developed and implemented training packages for operations staff to ensure seamless handover. This project was an integral part of the transition of Kurnell from a refinery into a terminal.Area Shift Manager. Responsible for managing a team of 12 Refinery Operators at the Waste Water Treatment Plant, Power Plant, Wharf and Pumphouse. Process Safety Management representative. Operations representative in the Management of Change and Request for Change systems.Refinery Plant Operator.
