In order to best equip new coaches, my responsibilities focus on working with them to:- Process books and articles relevant to coaching;- Use online coaching tools, resources, models, and evaluations.- Explore coaching competencies, strategies and practices;- Evaluate their progress as a coach; - Oversee and provide feedback during their supervised coaching experience;- Prepare for, and then debrief training labs; - Process and interpret feedback and coaching evaluations. Because we believe one of the best ways to learn how to coach is to be coached yourself, I also provide a 20 minute, abbreviated coaching session at the beginning of each mentor call.

Co-Founder / Site DirectorKidscorp Sep 2005 - Oct 2005Immediately following Hurricane Katrina, we discovered that among the refugees staying at Reunion Arena in Dallas, were scores of small children, for whom there was no adequate supervision services while parents scrambled to apply for assistance, etc. We were able to form a non-profit organization and provide that vital child care in the midst of a Red Cross shelter until people were moved to more long-term housing or were able to return home. As site director I worked directly with the children and was responsible for supervising volunteers as well as the really difficult part - coordinating with Red Cross staff, navigating bureaucratic nightmares and generally keeping the ship afloat. My brilliant partner and Missional strategist Shawn Small handled all the off-site responsibilities (forming the organization, recruiting volunteers, securing donations, etc.) In the end, we were invited to formalize a standing relationship with the Red Cross - organizing similar services nation wide. However, neither Shawn nor I felt like this was something we were in a place to do at the time.

Youth MinisterWindsor Park Church Of Christ (Now, King'S Crossing Church Of Christ) May 2000 - Dec 2002I began work with WP as a youth ministry intern/apprentice. This internship was, in a sense, an extended job interview. With the former youth minister serving as family and education minister, as intern I functioned as youth minister. At the end of the summer I was offered the job as full-time youth minister following my senior year of college. We traveled from Abilene to Corpus at least once a month during that school year - we relocated for full time ministry in July 2001.
