Built from scratch molecular biology labs and teams for Evelo and Total.• Inventor on multiple issued patents and patent applications for metabolic engineering to produce pharmaceuticals, biochemicals and biofuels (Ginkgo, Total, Mascoma), methods for protein expression optimization, methods to improve yeast strains for human antibodies production (Merck), providing online research services, and many others.• Finalist, 2003 Cournand and Comroe Young Investigator Prize (American Heart Association), for paper on mechanisms of apoptosis in pulmonary vascular smooth muscle cells. Two papers in Science including the paper on hexameric structure of the human interleukin-6/IL-6 alpha-receptor/gp130 complex, and more than 20 other peer-reviewed journal publications.
